Understanding Health Scores

Disk Status calculates a health score for each disk based on multiple factors to help you identify potential failures before they occur.

Health Score Overview

Each disk receives a health score from 0 to 100:

  • 100: Optimal health, no issues detected
  • 80-99: Good health, minor factors to monitor
  • 50-79: Moderate concerns, investigation recommended
  • Below 50: Significant issues, action recommended

Risk Levels

Disks are categorised into risk levels based on their health scores:

  • Healthy: No issues detected, performing normally
  • Monitoring: Minor factors being tracked, no immediate concern
  • At-Risk: Issues detected that could lead to problems
  • Critical: Serious issues requiring immediate attention

Health Factors

Health scores are calculated from multiple factors including:

  • S.M.A.R.T. attribute values
  • Temperature readings
  • Error counts and rates
  • Wear indicators (for SSDs)
  • Historical trend analysis

Viewing Health Information

Health information is displayed:

  • On each disk's detail page
  • In the Health dashboard for fleet-wide view
  • As colour-coded badges throughout the interface

Score Updates

Health scores are recalculated periodically as new metrics are collected. The "Last Updated" timestamp shows when the most recent assessment occurred.
